The Dux learnt on Friday that Rod Carr the Vice-Chancellor University of Canterbury, had sent a communication to the Mayor & Councillors (see below) advising that the University would be using paid newspaper advertising to state its objectives and address the kinds of issues raised in the emails the Mayor and Councillors had been receiving.
Rod Carr also made reference to website set-up by opponents to the University of Canterbury's proposal. We assume he is referring to the Save Our Arts Centre site established by the Dux de Lux.
He alleges that the Mayor and Councillors have been bombarded with emails and is concerned that "correspondents, and others commenting publicly, do not reflect an informed and open mind on the choice being offered".
I am disappointed at Rod Carr's reaction to sincere and well founded objections to the Music School proposal.
